Learn how to migrate MS SQL to MySQL through an easy-to-use GUI tool
Navicat is a powerful MySQL database administration and development tool. It provides a powerful set of tools which help you to administer MySQL database locally or remotely. It also contains import features which allows user to import file into MySQL database from 10 different formats, including MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word (RTF), HTML, XML, TXT, CSV, DBF, etc.
Data migration of MS SQL to MySQL Navicat is more than just an import tool. It has functions with Ms Access possessed, yet easier to learn and manage. To migrate your data from MS SQL to MySQL: (1) click the Import Wizard in the Table View. (2) from the list of file format available, choose ODBC (3) click the browse button to list out the available ODBC source. (4) In the Provider tab, choose “Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server” (5) In the Connection tab, enter the server address, username and password of the connection. After the correct information has been entered, you will be able to see the available databases on the server from the pull down list. (6) After you have confirmed your settings, you will see the tables of the chosen database in Navicat Import Wizard Step 2. (7) Navicat will make some guesses on your field types of the table, you can always change it with your own wills. Please note that from Step 2 to Step 6, the import wizard will take couple of seconds to load, depending on your database size and connection speed. Normally, it will finish loading within 1 minute. (8) Click Execute to start the Import. (9) Import has finished successfully. Please see figures below for screeshot illustration.
