Can not get MySQL 4.1.7 to run on Server 2k3.

I have installed MySQL 4.1.7 on a Server 2k3 box. I click the short-cut to the command prompt. Then I am presented with a password prompt, when I enter my password (I set the password during the install procedure) I get an error message flash in the command prompt then it closes out.

The Error reads: "ERROR 2003 <HY000>" . No idea what that means, is the software not yet compatible with server 2k3?

Also the Traffic light in the startup tray is a red light, and when I got to start the service through it. It does not respond.

The install version I used was the Setup.exe file.

Please Help.
