Features and layout question
Sorry for the double post--I put this in reply to another user with the same question in regards to the first part...I thought I would make a new thread in hopes that an admin would read this.
Let me start by agreeing with Scanlog's post. I also would like to have my table list on the left-hand side, my query area (docked to main) in the lower area where it is, and the upper portion displaying the fields of whichever table I have selected in the left-side list. As it is, it displays the full table list again when I click a table from the list, which is redundant. When writing a query from scratch, it is helpful (I would say necessary) to be able to easily view the table list without running a lot of "desc"s. I find the table-hint function to be insufficient. The other features I was hoping to find with Navicat (I am in trial vers now, looking to buy) are in my current client, MySQLCC, and include: --Autocomplete from a keystroke, shows matches from partially type information --Table and field recognition, which changes the color for these entries based on the actual db content --Parentheses highlighting, which highlights the area of a particular start/stop parenthesis. Particularly useful for complex calculations when being off by 1 or 2 parentheses signs will kill your query. Does anyone know if any of these are available, or will be available in the near future? |
